Phil Hanson
Phil Hanson is a second generation horse trainer. Hanson Cutting Horses is an elite training operation located in Weatherford, Texas, a town also known as "the Cutting Horse Capital of the World." The facilities, the Lazy H Ranch, are owned by long-time horse enthusiast Sherry Chamberlin who is the proud owner of numerous successful mounts that have been trained and shown by Phil Hanson.
Phil earned his first check in 1984 and has since acquired more than $2.8 million in earnings. He made his first NCHA Open finals in 1996 and returned to the prestigious event in 2005 to place in the top 15 on Rey Jay Play. Other big wins include Open and Open Reserve Championships at the PCCHA Futurity, the South Point Futurity, the El Rancho Futurity, the Idaho Futurity the Cotton Stakes Derby, as well as top finals finishes at the NCHA Super Stakes and Summer Spectacular. Some of Phil’s most recent victories include Open Championships at the 2009 El Rancho Futurity on Little Silver Belles, the Idaho Futurity on Rubys Royal CD AND a winning title at the 2010 Bonanza Cutting, where he claimed yet another Open Championship on LHR Smooth Jamie May.
David Hanson
Originally from the high desert of Central Oregon, David Hanson was
practically born a horse trainer. Growing up, Dave showed both cutters
and cow horses and even spent his high school and college years roping.
David and his wife Becky spent five years training reining horses in
Italy for Arcese Quarter Horses and showing throughout Europe, garnering
a number of highly sought after titles including Italian Futurity, Derby,
and Maturity Champion. Back in the United States since 2000, David and
Becky have started their own business in Central California where they
have built a program based on Reining and Working Cow Horses. An NRHA
Futurity and Derby Open qualifier, David is now proving himself to be
a viable competitor in the world of professional Reining.
Deb Renger
Deb Renger hails from Okotoks, Alberta. She has competed on the WPRA since 1992. She has found continuing success competing in the Pro Rodeo arena. A five time Canadian Champion Barrel Racer with five NFR qualifications to her credit, Deb is also a Calgary Stampede Champion. In 2008 Deb ranked 15th in the world, she continues to rank in the upper echelon of rodeo riders. The talented horsewoman logs long miles each year traveling to the top rodeos in both Canada and the U.S. Deb currently rides Docs Leo Lee or "Reiner", a bay gelding.
Shelley Morgan
Shelley Morgan has been around rodeo horses all her life. After attending college Shelley began riding and training a horse named Short Go. In their first year of serious amateur competition they made it all the way into the finals, the second year they won. After their continued success, Shelley and Short Go made the move up to the PCRA/WPRA. Their second year of competition on the pro circuit Shelley and Short Go made it to the 2009 Wrangler NFR in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sadly Short Go passed away in February 2010. Currently Shelley is competing on her main horse Scooby, and a second horse named Radar.
Blythe Marano
Blythe is 23 years old and originally from Bedminster, NJ where she grew up riding on her parents farm. As a junior, she trained with Missy Clark and competed in the junior jumper and equitation divisions in which she won multiple ribbons in every major equitation final (Washington, USET, Medal, Maclay). Her junior career highlights also include receiving the Christy Conard trophy for Equestrian Excellence (Equitation WEF circuit champion) and winning the Team Gold Medal at the Prix de States national junior jumper championships as well as the Young Riders championships while riding for Zone 2.
Blythe has worked for Lee Ann and Orrin Ingram, owners of the Riverview Farm, since 2006 and lives in Franklin, TN where she trains Lee Ann as well as, daughter, Virginia. Lee Ann and Orrin purchased Urban (now a 10yr old Dutch gelding) when he was 5 years old for Blythe to ride and compete. Some show highlights include numerous ribbons in the WEF classes as well as the Sunday grand prix in Florida, 2nd 1.50 classic WEF, 2nd Horse Shows by the Bay grand prix, 7th 75,000 Adequan Grand Prix WEF. More recently at the spring shows Urban was 5th in the grand prix at spring 4 and 10th in the grand prix spring 5.
Derek Braun
Derek began riding at age 7. By the age of 16, Derek had become one of the premiere junior riders in America by winning two of the most prestigious junior national championships. In 2001, he won the BET/USET Talent Search Equitation Finals in Gladstone, New Jersey. In 2002, Derek brought home Team Gold at the National Junior Jumper Championships and Prix De States at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. While Attending College at Rollins College in Winter Park Florida, Derek continued his dedication to the sport. During the summer of 2003, Derek traveled abroad to compete in Holland where he came home victorious in the Amateur Grand Prix of Valkenswaard. In 2007, immediately after graduating from college, Derek turned professional and founded Split Rock Farm. Throughout the summer of 2007, Derek had numerous top grand prix placings throughout the Midwest. To date, Split Rock Farm is based out of Lexington, KY and offers clients a wide variety of sale horses, and hunter/jumper training at all levels.
Julie Welles
Julie, 23, currently works and rides for US Olympic Gold Medalist, Laura Kraut. As a junior competitor in the United States, she won several prestigious national equitation finals and national junior jumper awards. Julie now competes at the Grand Prix level, having placed well over the past few years at Spruce Meadows in Canada, the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida and in the Young Riders Division in the UK.
Doug Payne
At age 7, Doug joined the United States Pony Club which is a youth
organization established to educate and promote horse sports to people
under 21. He is a graduate ‘A’ rated Pony Club member, and donates as
much time as possible to teach for his local club. In 2000, Doug
graduated from Voorhees High School of Glen Gardner, NJ with high
honors, and was a member of the National Honor Society and the German
Honor Society. He continued his academic success at RIT where he was a
member of the National Scholars Honor Society, as well as the Dean’s
List in consecutive years. Doug Payne Equestrian was started in 2005 and
has grown from a small traveling training and teaching business in the
Gladstone area. Doug finished up the 2009 eventing season with nearly
100 starts, with 15 wins, and an astounding 60.4% of the starts resulted
in a top 5 finishes.
Lauren Weil
Lauren Weil was a financial planner at a fortune 500 company, but has always had a passion for horses. She decided to follow her dreams and gave up the corporate job. Lauren is an accomplished Advanced Three Day Event rider, Bronze Medal dressage rider, and has been a competitive equestrian for over 20 years. She has trained with the best the sport has to offer including Conrad Schumacher, Ralph Hill, Robert Dover, and Jimmy Woffard. Lauren realized that she has a natural gift for helping people and horses be the best they can be, and enjoy every aspect of the horse-world like she does.
Lauren Lambert
Advanced level Event rider Lauren Lambert of Lands End Farm in
Goshen, Kentucky has used Equithrive Joint since 2009 and has seen
improvement in the horses' comfort on a day-to- day basis, and
significant reduction of inflammation in legs and ankles. Lauren’s
recent accomplishments include:
